The Faculty of Engineering of the University of Ruhuna held a media briefing in Colombo today to announce REXTRO 2025, an exhibition scheduled for December to mark 25 years of excellence in engineering education and innovation.

Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Chaminda Karunasena, said:
“We are proud to celebrate our Silver Jubilee. This three-day event will be one of the largest university-led engineering exhibitions in Sri Lanka, showcasing the achievements of our students, alumni, and faculty while inspiring school students and undergraduates across the country.”

The President of Sri Lanka is expected to attend the inaugural ceremony, highlighting the national significance of this milestone celebration.

The event will feature more than 40 thematic zones, with over 20,000 participants anticipated, and will serve as the focal point of the Silver Jubilee festivities.

In addition to the main exhibition, REXTRO 2025 will include a wide range of activities designed to inspire and engage students nationwide. These will include international collaborations with foreign universities, global exposure for student innovations, pre-exhibition webinars, faculty-level competitions open to external participants, guest lectures, alumni and CEO participation, an engineering sports festival, awareness sessions, and the launch of 25 visionary student projects.
