Na Uyana monks’ final rites today

The final rites of the Buddhist monks who died in the cable car collapse at the Na Uyana Monastery (Nā Uyana Āranya Senāsanaya) in Melsiripura will be performed today.It has been decided to bury the bodies of the deceased monks at the request of the government. The bodies of two Indian monks and a Romanian monk who perished in the accident will be repatriated to their home countries today, while the body of the Russian monk is scheduled to be sent back in the coming days. The bodies of four monks were brought from Melsiripura to the Na Uyana Aranya Senasana yesterday morning. Pix by Nisal Baduge
