The Annual Passing Out Parade of the Hermann Loos and De Soysa Challenge Trophies for 2025 was held on Tuesday at the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Training Centre in Rantambe, under the patronage of Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retired).
Upon arrival, the Chief Guest was warmly welcomed by NCC Director Major General Rajitha Premathilake and accorded a Guard Turnout before inspecting the parade.
Addressing the gathering, Major General Jayasekara highlighted the importance of cadet training in shaping the character and leadership qualities of youth, while promoting national unity and reconciliation. He also commended the participation of school platoons from Jaffna and Batticaloa, noting that their involvement symbolized harmony among students from diverse regions.
The Deputy Minister appreciated the dedication of NCC officers and teachers who contribute tirelessly to youth development through discipline and teamwork.
Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala, won the prestigious Hermann Loos Challenge Trophy (Male Category), while Mahamaya Girls’ College, Kandy, clinched the De Soysa Challenge Trophy (Female Category).
The event was attended by senior officials of the Ministry of Defence and Education, tri-forces officers, retired officers, principals, teachers, cadets, and their families.
