China donates rice

At the request of the Sri Lankan Government, the Chinese Government agreed to donate 2,752 metric tons of rice for emergency humanitarian relief. The project is implemented by COFCO Corporation. The first batch of 1000 MT of rice to Colombo was handed over to Sri Lanka at the Colombo Port today. Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and President’s Secretary Austin Fernando accepted the first batch on behalf of the government. It was handed over by Chinese Ambassador Yi Xianliang.
