The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) inspired over 200 students from Uva Wellassa University through the Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) program, themed “Skybound Economy: The Power of Aviation in Shaping Sri Lanka’s Tourism Future.”

The event kicked off on July 7 with a dynamic panel discussion at the CAASL Auditorium, moderated by Mr. Ishara Gunawerdena, and featured leading figures from the aviation and tourism sectors:

  • Mr. Rayhan Wanniappa, Acting Director General & CEO, CAASL
  • Capt. Daminda Rambukwella, Deputy Director General, CAASL
  • Mr. Indunil Wijekoon, Regional Manager, SriLankan Airlines
  • Mr. Sampath Nishshanka, Managing Director, SLTPB
  • Mr. Shalutha R. Rathnayake, Airport Manager, AASL

Students also enjoyed a behind-the-scenes visit to Bandaranaike International Airport, gaining firsthand insights into aviation operations and how the industry drives Sri Lanka’s tourism growth.

Organized by CAASL’s Civil Aviation Promotion Unit, the event reflects the authority’s commitment to nurturing a future-ready aviation workforce to power the country’s tourism economy.
