Protest against move to hike electricity tariffs

With Cabinet of Ministers giving its nod to implement cost-reflective electricity tariffs from January, another substantial hike in electricity tariffs is imminent. Sri Lanka raised electricity tariffs by 75 percent last August. The Joint Trade Union Organization yesterday staged a protest in front of Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) head office against the proposed tariff hike.
