Overseas Realty Chairman Ajit Jayaratnes passes away

Colombo, July 10 (Daily Mirror) - Ajit M. De S. Jayaratne, a distinguished figure in Sri Lanka’s business community and Chairman of Overseas Realty (Ceylon) PLC, passed away today, at the age of 85.

His notable roles included chairing the Colombo Stock Exchange, the Finance Commission, and the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. After retiring from the private sector, he served as Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Singapore and remained an influential voice in business through directorships in several listed companies.

His remains will lie at his residence on Friday, July 11, with funeral rites to be held at the New Crematorium, Borella Cemetery, at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025.
