Indices closed in green as a result of price gains in counters such as Hatton National Bank, Sampath Bank and Commercial Bank with the turnover crossing Rs. 7.5 Bn. High net worth and institutional investor participation was noted in ACL Cables, Renuka Foods and Laugfs Gas. Mixed interest was observed in Renuka Agri Foods, Colombo Dockyard and Bogala Graphite Lanka whilst retail interest was noted in SMB Leasing, Citrus Leisure and Industrial Asphalts. Foreign participation in the market activity remained at subdued levels with foreigners closing as net sellers.
Capital Goods sector was the top contributor to the market turnover (due to ACL Cables and Colombo Dockyard) whilst the sector index gained 0.70%. The share price of ACL Cables gained Rs 1.25 (0.57%) to close at Rs 221.25. The share price of Colombo Dockyard recorded a loss of Rs 55.25 (12.06%) to close at Rs 403.00.
The Banking sector was the second highest contributor to the market turnover whilst the sector index increased by 2.40%.
Laugfs Gas, Renuka Agri Foods and Sri Lanka Telecom were also included amongst the top turnover contributors. The share price of Laugfs Gas increased by Rs 4.10 (5.72%) to close at Rs 75.80. The share price of Renuka Agri Foods moved up by Rs 1.40 (25.00%) to close at Rs 7.00. The share price of Sri Lanka Telecom appreciated by Rs 11.00 (16.15%) to close at Rs 79.10.
