On 3rd March 2026, in celebration of World Hearing Day, Vision Care Hearing Solutions successfully concluded a meaningful and life-changing hearing aid donation campaign aligned with the World Health Organization’s global theme: “From Communities to Classrooms – Hearing Care for All Children.”

The award ceremony was held at the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute, bringing together distinguished guests, members of the media, parents, children, and well-wishers for a morning dedicated to transforming young lives through better hearing.

In his address, Harsha Maduranga - General Manager of Vision Care Optical Services Pvt Ltd highlighted how the campaign began months prior to World Hearing Day. In alignment with the WHO theme, Vision Care Hearing Solutions initiated extensive school screening programs across more than 15 schools at the beginning of the year. Over 1,500 school children were screened to identify undiagnosed hearing difficulties.

Through these screenings, children with significant hearing loss were identified — many from families unable to afford advanced hearing technology. As a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, the company committed to sponsoring hearing aids for these deserving children.

“This is not a one-day event,” he emphasized. “This is a commitment to ensuring that hearing care reaches classrooms, and that no child is left behind because of undetected or untreated hearing loss.”

Randimali Rupasinghe - Senior Audiologist – Vision Care Hearing Solutions spoke about the importance of hearing in a child’s development. She explained how hearing plays a fundamental role in speech and language acquisition, cognitive growth, academic achievement, and social confidence.

“Hearing is not just about sound,” she stated. “It is about connection, confidence, communication, and opportunity. Today, we are not just donating hearing aids. We are donating a future.”

Dr. Maureen Tomasula - Senior International Trainer from Oticon spoke about the critical importance of fitting the right hearing technology for children. She emphasized that pediatric fittings require specialized solutions and careful clinical expertise.

She explained how Oticon hearing aids incorporate BrainHearing technology, designed to deliver a clearer and more organized sound signal to the brain. This ensures that children’s developing auditory systems receive speech signals in optimal condition for learning and language development. She also highlighted the importance of advanced noise reduction and feedback management technology, particularly vital in classroom environments.

The highlight of the ceremony was the awarding segment. A total of 22 students were presented with hearing aids — amounting to 40 devices in total.
