Sony appoints Karunaratna as Regional Ambassador for Wildlife Photography

Sony in collaboration with CameraLK, has announced the appointment of wildlife photographer Lakshitha Karunaratna as the Sony Regional Ambassador for Wildlife Photography, making him the first Sri Lankan to be selected for this role.
The signing took place, in the presence of representatives from Sony, CameraLK, and figures from Sri Lanka’s creative community. Lakshitha’s appointment spans the South and South East Asia region — including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Mongolia, Nepal, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, and beyond. His work will be featured and published on Sony’s platforms across this region.
Welcoming the new ambassador, Bae Jihoon – Deputy Director, Regional Marketing Development Centre (RMDC), Sony Electronics (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., commented, “Lakshitha’s appointment as our Regional Ambassador is a reflection of our commitment to supporting and spotlighting exceptional creators from across the region. His vision to wildlife photography makes him a suitable representative for the Sony brand.”
As the official Sony Regional Ambassador for Wildlife Photography, Lakshitha will represent Sony in regional campaigns and educational initiatives. 
His appointment also opens up new avenues for Sri Lanka to gain global visibility — particularly in the areas of conservation, visual storytelling, and nature-based tourism. His work has the potential to not only inspire international audiences but also position Sri Lanka as a must-visit destination for wildlife and photography enthusiasts.
