SLT‑Mobitel Mobile and Fairfirst Insurance have unveiled the nation’s first-ever mobile billing solution for motor insurance, a historic milestone for the country’s telecommunications and insurance sectors.
With the breakthrough, SLT-Mobitel Mobile has transformed the traditional insurance purchasing process, enabling the motorists to obtain and renew motor insurance directly through their mobile connections, anytime and anywhere.
The customers can now complete transactions without physical documentation or office visits, with seamless billing integrated into their existing Mobitel accounts through a simplified, user-friendly, transparent and secure process. The launch expands SLT-Mobitel Mobile’s growth of mobile-delivered insurance solutions, building on its existing life insurance services. This expansion introduces practical, value-driven services specifically tailored to meet the needs of local vehicle owners through innovative mobile technology.
The initiative also aligns with SLT-Mobitel’s vision to integrate real-world, everyday services into its growing digital lifestyle ecosystem. Fairfirst Insurance offers trusted expertise, supporting customers in receiving reliable, affordable and accessible financial protection.
The revolutionary approach also broadens insurance access for rural communities, bridging the digital divide through existing mobile infrastructure. By extending coverage to previously inaccessible populations, the service ensures essential protection reaches all Sri Lankans with unparalleled ease.
The solution is strategically aligned with the government’s national digital transformation vision, supporting efforts to digitise key sectors including insurance, telecommunications and financial services. Furthermore, the first-of-its-kind initiative delivers meaningful change, providing essential services through digital platforms and strengthening citizen engagement throughout the country.
