Once bitten, twice shy!

Despite the repeated assurances by the authorities that there was no fuel shortage, people flocked to fuel stations in Colombo and the suburbs yesterday, reminding the adage ‘once bitten, twice shy’.

However, as the day progressed, the rumour mill was shut down and sanity prevailed as people realized that there was no real shortage in fuel in the country. The picture shows people with bottles and cans at a fuel station in Colombo
