IRD, Customs, Excise protest against SGST

The employees of Inland Revenue Department, Excise Department and Sri Lanka Customs yesterday staged a protest against the new Special Goods and Services Tax (SGST) in front of the Finance Ministry. They charged that in connection to the SGST, the government is planning to set up a single unit under the Treasury to collect all taxes, rendering their organisations useless.
