International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) President Asmâa Resmouki, who was in Sri Lanka on an invitation extended to her by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), held high-level discussions with a top government minister and officials last week.
During her stay in Colombo, Resmouki, who heads the global organisation for the accounting profession, held discussions with Finance State Minister Shehan Semasinghe as well as with Secretary to Treasury K.M. Mahinda Siriwardana and Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe.
She was accompanied by CA Sri Lanka President Sanjaya Bandara, Vice President Heshana Kuruppu and acting Chief Executive Officer Lakmali Priyangika.
The meetings centred on critical matters pertaining to the financial and accounting landscape, with a focus on strengthening the profession and its role in driving economic resilience and sustainability in Sri Lanka.
Central Bank Deputy Governors K.M.A.N. Daulagala, T.M.J.Y.P. Fernando and Senior Accountant Lasanthi Sirimanne also joined the meeting at the bank.
