The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) has stepped up efforts to integrate technology into regional export development, hosting a workshop in Jaffna to promote the use of artificial intelligence (AI) among the small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Organised in collaboration with the EDB Northern province office, the workshop drew around 80 participants, including exporters and development officers from across the district.
The session was conducted by Blue Chip Asia Chief Executive Officer Uditha Bandara, who shared insights on how AI can accelerate and transform export businesses.
The programme focused on raising awareness among exporters about leveraging AI tools to improve operations and understand their strategic importance in the export sector. Participants were shown how AI applications can help reduce operational costs through automation, allowing them to focus on strategic business goals.
The interactive session also allowed the participants to experiment with various AI technologies, gaining practical experience to support their professional development.
The initiative forms part of the EDB’s ongoing drive to strengthen exporter capacity across all provinces, with particular focus on empowering Northern businesses to adopt modern technologies for export growth.
