In response to the recent floods that impacted communities across Sri Lanka, Cargills Food City swiftly launched an islandwide relief initiative to support those affected and stand by the nation during this critical time of need.
As part of its immediate relief efforts, Cargills Food City distributed 10,000 ration packs to flood-affected families across all impacted areas, ensuring timely access to essential food items when they were needed most.
Recognising that the impact of the floods also extended to livelihoods, Cargills Food City extended dedicated support to its own farming community by providing 3,200 relief packs to farmers, helping them cope with disruptions caused by the adverse weather conditions. Further strengthening its relief programme, Cargills Food City has commenced the sale of subsidised ration packs and sanitary packs, offered specifically for donation purposes. For every six ration packs of this type sold, Cargills Food City will donate one additional ration pack, multiplying the impact of public contributions and enabling broader support for affected families.
In addition, customers can play a direct role in supporting flood relief through Cargills Food City’s ongoing Christmas Promotion. Shoppers who purchase goods worth over Rs. 2,500 with three partner brands stand a chance to win an Instant Bill Wipeout.
Winners are given the option to donate the value of their Instant Bill Wipeout as cash towards the Cargills flood relief effort, with Cargills Food City matching the donated amount in cash, effectively doubling the impact of every contribution and transforming everyday shopping moments into meaningful support for those in need.
Cargills Food City remains committed to serving the nation beyond retail, standing shoulder to shoulder with communities and partners in times of crisis. Through collective action and shared responsibility, Cargills Food City continues to reaffirm its promise to care for Sri Lanka and its people when it matters most.
