The Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA) will be conducting the CMA Excellence in Integrated Reporting Awards 2023 for the ninth consecutive year today, at 6:00 p.m., at Taj Samudra, under the distinguished patronage of International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) President Asmâa Resmouki.
The IFAC is the global body for the accounting profession, representing three million professional accountants, with 180 member bodies and associates, in 135 jurisdictions. The Colombo Stock Exchange will be the Supporting Partner for the event.
The purpose of the Excellence in Integrated Reporting Awards is to promote Sri Lankan companies, both listed and unlisted and state-owned enterprises/companies to undertake integrated reporting, which will be beneficial to investors and stakeholders. The primary purpose of an integrated report is to explain to providers of financial capital how an organisation creates, preserves or erodes value over time. An integrated report benefits all stakeholders interested in an organisation’s ability to create value over time, including employees, customers, suppliers, business partners, local communities, legislators, regulators and policymakers.
The integrated reports are evaluated using guidelines applicable in the International <IR> Framework issued in December 2013 and revised in 2021. The evaluation will take into account not only the accounting and financial information but also non-financial information provided in <IR>. There are 53 companies that have applied for the competition and all applications have been evaluated by a technical panel and thereafter by a senior technical panel and the final judging process was undertaken by a local and foreign panel of judges. The CMA congratulates the winners who will be receiving the awards today at the awards ceremony.
Professor Ho Yew Kee, Professor of Accounting Cluster Director Business, Communication and Design, Singapore Institute of Technology, was Chairman of the Judges Panel.
CMA Sri Lanka President is Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala.
