The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) announced that ACL Cables PLC, CIC Holdings PLC, and Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC’s non-voting shares are the three new entrants to the S&P Sri Lanka 20 index, following the mid-year rebalance conducted by S&P Dow Jones Indices.

According to official disclosures detailed in the CSE Media Release, these constituent changes are scheduled to take effect from June 22, 2026, after the market close on June 19, 2026. The inclusion of these three corporate entities marks a notable update in the index composition, reflecting the latest performance and liquidity metrics within the local equity market.

A key highlight of this rebalance is that Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC will now feature dual representation within the elite index, with its newly added non-voting shares joining its existing voting shares on the top-tier roster.

To accommodate the new entrants, index operators have excluded two prominent non-banking financial institutions, LB Finance PLC and People’s Leasing & Finance PLC.

The S&P Sri Lanka 20 index is designed in accordance with international practices and standards, utilizing the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS) co-developed by S&P Dow Jones Indices and MSCI. To secure a place in this tier, a listed company must fulfill rigorous quantitative criteria, which include maintaining a minimum float-adjusted market capitalization of Rs 500 million, a six-month median daily value traded of Rs 0.25 million, and delivering positive net income over the 12 months preceding the rebalancing reference date.

Furthermore, the index weights its constituents based on float-adjusted market capitalization while imposing a single stock cap of 15% to actively reduce single stock concentration risks.

With the latest mid-year rebalance finalised, the complete S&P Sri Lanka 20 index comprises a well-diversified lineup of twenty leading companies listed on the Colombo bourse. In alphabetical order, the full index now consists of Access Engineering PLC, ACL Cables PLC, Central Finance Company PLC, CIC Holdings PLC, Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC, DFCC Bank PLC, Dialog Axiata PLC, Hatton National Bank PLC, Hayleys PLC, and Hemas Holdings PLC. The remaining constituents completing the benchmark index are John Keells Holdings PLC, Lanka IOC Ltd., LOLC Holdings PLC, Melstacorp PLC, National Development Bank PLC, Nations Trust Bank PLC, Sampath Bank PLC, Singer Sri Lanka PLC, Sunshine Holdings PLC, and Vallibel One PLC.
