The government has allocated Rs. 3,000 million for digital development as part of its strategy to achieve its ambitious goal of generating US$ 15 billion through the digital economy by 2030.
President Dissanayake announced the allocation while presenting the 2025 Budget in Parliament today.
To support this initiative, he announced plans to establish a Digital Economic Authority which he said would oversee Sri Lanka’s transition toward a cashless economy.
A key component of this transformation will be the Sri Lanka Unique Identity Project (Digital ID), designed to enhance security and trust in digital transactions.
