University teachers on strike

University teachers went on an island wide token strike today in protest against the establishment of private universities and the privatisation of free education. The Federation of University Teachers Associations (FUTA) said that the government should refrain from introducing the controversial private universities bill until it is discussed with the university academic community and all other stakeholders.
