Weligama PS Chairman’s killing an incident of gang warfare : Minister

Colombo, October 22 (Daily Mirror)- The killing of Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Lasantha Wickramasekera is an incident of gang warfare which is currently prevailing in the country, Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala told Parliament today.

He said the late Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman is popularly known as Weligama Lasa. " He had been involved in underworld activities and was facing a number of court cases. He has also been involved in drug trafficking as well," the minister said.

The minister said the information had been revealed by underworld figures who had been extradited from Indonesia.
