Vijitha Herath to visit Australia, New Zealand on official tour

Colombo, May 24 (Daily Mirror) - Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath is scheduled to undertake an official visit to New Zealand and Australia from 26 May to 3 June 2026 at the invitation of the two governments.

During the visit, Minister Herath is expected to hold bilateral discussions with Winston Peters and Penny Wong to discuss matters of mutual interest and strengthen diplomatic engagement between the countries.

The Minister is also due to meet senior government representatives, officials, business leaders, academics, think tanks, and members of the Sri Lankan community in both countries.

A key highlight of the New Zealand visit will be the ceremonial opening of the Sri Lankan High Commission in Wellington.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, the visit is expected to further strengthen Sri Lanka’s longstanding ties with both New Zealand and Australia while enhancing cooperation in areas of shared interest.
