Sri Lankan eyes to Pakistan, 36,000 corneas donated

Pakistan, May 31 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka has donated as many as 36,000 corneas to Pakistan over many decades, a top official said.

Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Islamabad Ravindra Wijegunawardena told a function here that Sri Lanka had donated 88,000 corneas to the world and Pakistan has been the single largest recipient. 

He said the second largest recipient had got only 2,000 corneas.

The High Commissioner said Sri Lankan military personnel especially will their corneas to be donated to Pakistan as a gesture of goodwill.
