Colombo, November 20 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka is inviting Indian investors and film producers to explore new tourism ventures and film projects in the country, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath said yesterday (19).
Speaking at an event organised by the Indian High Commission in Colombo to strengthen tourism cooperation between the two nations, Minister Herath highlighted Sri Lanka’s rapidly growing tourism industry, which is expected to attract 2.4 to 2.5 million visitors by the end of 2025.
“Collaboration with India, our largest tourism source market, is crucial for achieving future growth targets,” he said, noting opportunities in hospitality, destination weddings, film tourism, and religious travel.
The Minister pointed out that Sri Lanka’s strong air connectivity, cultural affinity, and visa-free entry make it an attractive short-haul destination for Indian travellers. He expressed confidence that the initiative would open doors for greater cooperation and new investments in the country’s tourism sector.
