Russian tests negative for COVID-19 in final PCR test

The Russian crew member who earlier tested positive for Covid-19 in Matara, has been tested negative in the final PCR test conducted on him, Army Commander Shavendra Silva said today (25).

The 57-year-old Russian, who tested negative today, was found to have been diagnosed with the virus following the PCR test carried out on him earlier.

He was among a group of 15 Russians who arrived at the Mattala Airport on September 13 and were staying in the tourist hotel in Polhena, Matara. However, the PCR tests confirmed that the 14 others had not contracted the virus.
