Opposition wants Harsha as COPF chairman again

The oppostion requested Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene to appoint SJB MP Harsha De Silva as the Chairman of the Committee on Public Finance (COPF) again.

Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella said Dr. De Silva, who was the former Chairman of the COPF, should be reappointed to the post as an opposition member should hold the chairmanship according to the Standing Orders.

The Speaker said he could be reappointed to the position as decided by the party leaders meeting.

Speaker announced ten MPs as memebrs of the Committee including Rauf Hakeem, Vijitha Herath, Patali Champika Ranawaka, Chandima Weerakkodi, Nalaka Godahewa, Harsha De Silva, M.A. Sumanthiran, Hesha Vithanage, Mayantha Dissanayake and Harshana Rajakaruna. (Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)
