One die, 237 people affected due to adverse weather: DMC

One person died due to lightning strike and 237 people from 94 families in five districts have been affected due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said today.

They said the people were affected due to heavy rain, lightning, squall and Land slides in Ratnapura, Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Mullaitivu and Jaffna districts.

Three were injured in the Ratnapura district, Nuwara Eliya and Mullaitivu districts. 37 people from families have been sent to safer locations, the DMC added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
