No decision to ban vehicle imports or restrict other imports: Deputy Minister

Colombo, May 22 (Daily Mirror) - The government has not taken any decision to ban vehicle imports or restrict other imports, Deputy Minister of Finance Anil Jayantha said today.

He told Parliament that the government will not expect to contract economic activities.

The Deputy Minister said a decision was taken only to delay placing orders for private vehicles for some time in order to control the depreciation of the exchange rate.

He said the government is intervening while based on information and not on speculations.
