New Health DG confident of combating Covid-19 soon in Sri Lanka

The Covid-19 virus can be successfully contained in Sri Lanka soon with the support of health and security officials, newly appointed Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena said.

He made these remarks after he assumed duties at the Ministry of Health today.

“As we all know, Covid-19 is present across the globe and Sri Lanka is not out of the woods yet with the Minuwangoda- Peliyagoda cluster, he said.

‘However, we are confident that the efforts in containing the virus, would produce positive results in near future, he added.

Health DG also said people’s support was of utmost importance in combating the virus.

Therefore, he requested people to cooperate with relevant officials and abide by the health guidelines so that they will soon be able to return to their normal routine. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
