Mother, two children burn to death in A’pura fire

A mother and her two children were burnt to death in a fire that broke out in a house at Mahamankadawala in Anuradhapura last night, the Police said.

They said a 30-year-old woman, her 10-year-old daughter and her 5-year-old son were killed in the fire. The husband was critically wounded. He was admitted to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital.

Police said the fire reportedly erupted when the family was deep asleep.

A preliminary investigation has revealed that the house was powered by electricity taken from a nearby house.

The Elayapaththuwa Police are investigating.(Dayarathna Embogama)
