Man under quarantine dies at home

A 68-year-old man who was placed under self quarantine in his home in the Pallewela area died today and his body was referred to the Watupitiwala base hospital for a postmortem report.

A spokesman for the Mirigama MOH office said occupants of several houses in the Pallewela area had been subjected to quarantine after a garment employee in the area was tested positive for Covid-19. She had reportedly associated with the family members of the deceased. However, PCR tests had confirmed that none of them were infected with the virus.

The official said a decision on the funeral of the deceased would be taken after a PCR test.(Pushpakumara Mallawarachchi)
