Lunch packets, kottu, and fried-rice to go up by 10%

The price of lunch packets, kottu and fried rice will be increased by 10% from tonight in the wake of the electricity tariff hike, head of the All Island Canteen Owners' Association (AICOA) Asela Sampath said today.

Addressing the media, he apologised to consumers for increasing the prices of canteen food items.

Accordingly, the price of a kottu will increase by Rs. 50. The price of fried rice will increase by Rs.30. A lunch packet will be increased by Rs.30. But there is no price increase for short eats, plain tea, hoppers, or milk tea.

Even though the electricity tariff increased by Rs. 66, the Canteen Owners' Association has decided to increase the prices of canteen items by 10%. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
