Colombo, Dec. 29 (Daily Mirror) - ITAK General Secretary M. A. Sumanthiran told media that the land which was allocated for the international cricket stadium has gone under water during the recent floods.
"The land went under water and environmental experts have said the land is not suitable for the cricket ground. Therefore, there are few objection for the project, " he said.
The foundation stone for Sri Lanka's seventh international cricket stadium with flood lights was laid by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in September this year.
The stadium was going to be constructed on a 48 acre land. It was to be of ten pitches with an 80m boundary.
