Colombo, May 22 (Daily Mirror) - Heavy rainfall recorded in the Castlereagh and Maussakelle catchment areas has led to a rise in reservoir water levels, reservoir engineers said.
According to engineers, significant rainfall was received in both catchment areas on May 21. The Maussakelle catchment recorded 27 mm of rainfall, while the Castlereagh catchment received 31.5 mm.
Reservoir engineers said that the continuing rains have helped increase water levels in the reservoirs, which had previously been at low levels.
As of 6.00 a.m. on May 22, the water level of the Maussakelle Reservoir was 47.9 feet below the spill level, while the Castlereagh Reservoir remained 23.6 feet below the overflow level, officials said.
