Chief Government Whip Johnston Fernando today urged SJB MPs Harin Fernando and Manusha Nanayakara to furnish information they disclosed in Parliament about Easter Sunday attacks to the CID and support the government’s endeavour to find out the culprits behind the deadly attacks.
“There is no point in both SJB and us slinging mud at each other in the House. Your duty is to support the government’s efforts to find those who are responsible for the attacks and to bring them to book. If not we are compelled to think that your action was to merely sling mud,” Mr. Fernando said.
“Government will not hesitate to penalise anyone who is responsible for the Easter Sunday attacks irrespective of their status and positions,” he added.
“The attacks took place during your regime and you too have failed to identify as to who was responsible. You could not prevent the attack despite the prior warning,” he also said.
State Minister Nimal Lansa said a person such as Harin Fernando did not have a moral right to talk of the Easter Sunday attacks as he was a person who failed in his duty to inform the relevant institutions after receiving prior information from his father.
“He is also talking of former MP Ranjan Ramanayake just to win votes in the Gampaha District. I will not attack Mr. Ramnayake any longer as I feel sorry for him because he was used by some of the SJB MPs. Mr. Ramanayake himself is frustrated with the SJB,” Mr. Lansa said.
