Girlfriend arrested over Kuliyapitiya youth murder

Kuliyapitiya, May 13 (Daily Mirror) - An 18-year-old girl, the girlfriend of the youth from Kuliyapitiya who was allegedly murdered while visiting the girl's house in Kuliyapitiya, has been arrested.

Police said the suspect has been arrested on charges of aiding and abetting the murder and concealing the crime.

The body of the youth, who had gone missing while visiting his girlfriend’s house, was recovered in the Panirendawa area of Madampe last week.

On April 22, police launched investigations based on information that the youth had gone missing in the Ilukhena area in Kuliyapitiya.
  
Susita Jayawansha, a resident of the Kaballewa area in Kuliyapitiya, was last seen visiting his girlfriend’s house following a phone call from her father. 
  
Police revealed that it was later discovered that the youth had been assaulted by his girlfriend’s father and two other individuals identified as masons. 
  
Earlier, the father and mother of the girlfriend were arrested and remanded over the murder.
