Colombo, June 15 (Daily Mirror) - Four individuals, including the driver of a private tourist vehicle, were arrested following an incident inside the Yala National Park after a collision with a safari jeep at the Yala Junction on June 12.
According to wildlife officials, the group, who were staying at a tourist bungalow within the park, were taken into custody on June 14 after allegedly engaging in unlawful behaviour inside the protected area.
The incident occurred when the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a safari jeep. Following the collision, the driver and other occupants of the private vehicle allegedly exited their vehicle within the park premises and attempted to engage in a confrontation, which is considered a violation of park regulations.
Wildlife officers attached to the Yala National Park subsequently arrested the group for their conduct inside the protected area.
The suspects are scheduled to be produced before the Tissamaharama Magistrate’s Court on June 15 for further legal proceedings.
