Colombo, Nov. 20 (Daily Mirror) - The Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) announced that it has temporarily halted the issuance of driving licences for foreign nationals seeking to operate three-wheelers in Sri Lanka.
Officials also clarified that there are currently no plans to introduce a special temporary licence for foreigners to drive three-wheelers.
However, police said foreign nationals holding a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) are legally permitted to drive in the country. Those carrying domestic driving licences from their home countries may also drive, provided they obtain the required certificate or endorsement from the DMT.
