Current weather condition may continue to next week: Met Dept

The Department of Meteorology today announced the possibility of the prevailing weather condition continuing until next Tuesday (12) if a lower level atmospheric disturbance developed in the Bay of Bengal.
 
“There is a possibility of a lower level atmospheric disturbance developing in the Bay of Bengal to the east of Sri-Lanka,” the department said.

If the disturbance was to develop further, the prevailing showery weather condition in the south western part of the island is expected to continue until September 12.

The Department said it was continuously monitoring the situation.
