Court halts Basnayake Nilame election at Sabaragamuwa Saman Devalaya

Colombo, Feb 10 (Daily Mirror) - The Court of Appeal today issued an interim order preventing the election to select the Basnayake Nilame of the Sabaragamuwa Maha Saman Devalaya, which was scheduled to take place tomorrow (11).

Acting President of the Court of Appeal, Justice M.T.M. Lafar, issued this order in response to a writ petition filed by S.V. Chandrasinghe, who had been appointed as the temporary custodian of the Sabaragamuwa Maha Saman Devalaya.

Counsel Chamara Nanayakkarawasam appeared for the petitioner.
