Colombo, May 29 (Daily Mirror) - The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has published its estimated pricing structure for imported refined petroleum products for the period of April 2026, based on data available up to April 30, 2026.
According to the statement, the calculations cover Petrol 92 Octane, Petrol 95 Octane, Lanka Auto Diesel, Super Diesel, and Kerosene, with detailed breakdowns of landed costs, processing charges, taxation, and other operational expenses.
The landed cost per litre was reported at Rs. 273.59 for Petrol 92, Rs. 290.07 for Petrol 95, Rs. 560.85 for Lanka Auto Diesel, Rs. 613.90 for Super Diesel, and Rs. 550.24 for Kerosene. Processing costs ranged from Rs. 14.21 to Rs. 19.13, while taxation levels varied significantly across fuel types, with Super Diesel recording the highest at Rs. 199.06.
Based on the formula, the estimated cost per litre was calculated at Rs. 432.59 for Petrol 92, Rs. 477.46 for Petrol 95, Rs. 749.70 for Lanka Auto Diesel, Rs. 840.07 for Super Diesel, and Rs. 580.53 for Kerosene.
When compared with current retail prices, Petrol 92 is priced at Rs. 398.00, Petrol 95 at Rs. 455.00, Lanka Auto Diesel at Rs. 382.00, Super Diesel at Rs. 443.00, and Kerosene at Rs. 25.00 per litre.
The analysis shows a price difference (under-recovery) across all categories, with Petrol 92 at Rs. 34.59, Petrol 95 at Rs. 22.46, Lanka Auto Diesel at Rs. 367.70, Super Diesel at Rs. 397.07, and Kerosene at Rs. 325.53 per litre.
The report highlights significant gaps between estimated formula-based costs and current retail prices, particularly in diesel and kerosene categories.
