The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) announced today that their online payment gateway, which had been temporarily shut down due to a cyber attack, had been successfully re-launched, CEB Additional General Manager (Corporate Strategy) K. A. K. Kolonne said.
He said the cyber incident was detected in the latter part of November 2022.
Kolonne said that upon the discovery of a cyber incident related to the online payment gateway system, CEB immediately engaged with cyber security experts at the Computer Emergency Readiness Team/Co-ordination Centre (CERT|CC) as well as other relevant authorities to assess the situation and comprehend the incident.
He said the CEB apologized for any inconvenience caused due to this incident and would like to invite and encourage our customers to rejoin the CEB online payment system with confidence.
He stated that they want to reassure everyone that they have taken all necessary precautions to avoid a similar incident in the future.
