Colombo, September 27 (Daily Mirror) - The Central Environmental Authority (CEA) has integrated with the “GovPay Government Digital Payment Platform,” enabling clients to make payments for its services online from yesterday (26).

With this move, fees related to a wide range of services including inspection, licensing, processing, Basel export consent, certification, administration, registration, annual renewals, laboratory testing, waste disposal, procurement, NEIC services, and examinations can now be paid through GovPay.

Payments can be made via 14 banks and six FinTech applications currently operating on the platform. The CEA said the new system will make transactions more convenient, efficient, and reliable for both clients and the Authority. Customers seeking clarifications can still obtain assistance from the relevant CEA service units.

GovPay is a digital payment platform introduced by the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) and LankaPay (Pvt) Ltd., under the guidance of the Ministry of Digital Economy. Since February 2025, 147 government institutions have joined the platform, with transactions worth Rs. 291 million recorded for 2,017 services. The CEA is the latest state body to join.

The official signing of the agreement between the CEA and LankaPay (Pvt) Ltd. took place yesterday at the CEA premises, formally launching the digital payment option for the public.
