Bangladesh’s tour to Sri Lanka, scheduled for later this month, has been postponed to next year.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had been unable to reach a compromise on the period that the visiting Bangladesh team would need to be in isolation, with Health Ministry officials insisting that a 14-day quarantine was mandatory.

BCB have maintained that 14 days of isolation without any training would not be feasible ahead of a Test series.

Meanwhile, in a statement, SLC said the decision was jointly taken by both SLC and BCB, after careful consideration of the current health situation and the health regulations, such as quarantine requirements.

“The tour will be rescheduled when the International Cricket Calendars of both nations open up for a rescheduling,” it said.

Sri Lanka and Bangladesh were scheduled to play a three match test series Under the ICC World Test Championship, whilst Bangladesh was scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on September 27.
