Colombo, June 15 (Daily Mirror) - The Department of Meteorology has warned of deteriorating sea conditions off parts of Sri Lanka's southern and southeastern coast, issuing an Amber advisory for strong winds and rough seas.
The warning is in effect for sea areas from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota, where wind speeds are expected to increase to 50–60 km/h, causing rough sea conditions at times.
Fishermen, naval personnel and coastal communities have been advised to exercise caution and remain vigilant while engaging in maritime activities.
The Department said wave heights could rise to between 2.0 and 2.5 metres in sea areas extending from Kalpitiya to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.
Authorities have urged the fishing and naval communities to stay updated on the latest weather forecasts and advisories issued by the Department of Meteorology.
