Colombo, May 22 (Daily Mirror) - A group of 21 alleged underworld members who were reportedly deported from Dubai arrived in Sri Lanka this morning (22), according to police sources.
The suspects were brought back to the country on several flights that had been diverted to the Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport due to adverse weather conditions affecting operations at Bandaranaike International Airport.
Among those reportedly deported are individuals identified as “Mahawatte Chamara” and “Kudu Duminda”, who are alleged to have links to organized criminal activities.
Police said “Mahawatte Chamara” is scheduled to be handed over to the Central Crime Investigation Bureau for further investigations.
Authorities stated that inquiries are also expected to continue regarding the other suspects who were brought back to the country.
