Feb.06 (Mirror Sports) - Vaibhav Sooryavanshi produced a sensational 175 off just 80 balls to power India to a historic 411/9 against England in the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026 final in Harare, rewriting multiple tournament records in a stunning display of power hitting.
India posted the highest total ever recorded in a knockout match in ICC Under-19 World Cup history, surpassing their previous benchmark set in 2016, thanks to a breathtaking knock from teenage prodigy Sooryavanshi.
The 14-year-old delivered one of the greatest innings in youth international cricket, smashing 175 from only 80 deliveries. His innings featured an incredible 30 boundaries — 15 fours and 15 sixes — at a staggering strike rate of 218.75.
Sooryavanshi became the first player to score 150 or more in an Under-19 World Cup final and also registered the fastest century ever recorded in a tournament final. The young star now sits third on India’s all-time list for most runs in a single U19 World Cup campaign, trailing only Sarfaraz Khan (566) and Shikhar Dhawan (505).
The record-breaking innings further cemented Sooryavanshi’s status as one of youth cricket’s brightest talents. With this performance, he also became India’s highest run-scorer in Youth ODI cricket, reaching the milestone in just 25 innings.
His 15 sixes during the innings established a new U19 World Cup record for the most maximums in a single innings, surpassing Australia’s Michael Hill, who struck 12 sixes against Namibia in 2008.
In Youth ODI cricket overall, Sooryavanshi also broke his own record for the most sixes in an innings after clearing the boundary ropes for the 15th time, bettering his previous mark of 14 sixes against UAE U19 in Dubai in December.
