Ven. Bujjampola Dhammavisuddhi Nayaka Thera New Sanghanayake for Negombo and Kurunegala

A prominent scholar in Sinhala, Pali and Sanskrit, Ven. Dhammavisuddhi Thera entered the Bhikkhu University in Bangkok in 1984, where he acquired a good knowledge of the Thai language as well. 

Chief Incumbent of Sri Visuddharamaya at Bujjampola in Dankotuwa, Ven. Bujjampola Dhammavisuddhi Thera has been appointed as the Chief Sanghanayake of the Amarapura Mulawanshika Nikaya, for the Negombo and Kurunegala regions, by the Karaka Maha Sangha Sabha of the Amarapura Mulawanshika Nikaya.
The Sannas Patraya in respect of this appointment will be presented  to Ven. Dhammavisuddhi Nayake Thera at a ceremony to be held at Ambarukkharamaya at Welitara in Balapitiya at 3.00 pm on March 9, Saturday. A reception to the new Sanghanayake Thera will be held at the Visuddharamaya at Bujjampola at 2.00 pm on March 10, Sunday.
Ordained as a Samanera in 1965, Ven. Dhammavisuddhi Thera received higher ordination in 1973. 


A prominent scholar in Sinhala, Pali and Sanskrit, Ven. Dhammavisuddhi Thera entered the Bhikkhu University in Bangkok in 1984, where he acquired a good knowledge of the Thai language as well. During his sojourn in Thailand, as a fluent speaker of the Thai language, he participated in numerous Buddhist activities there. He later engaged in Dhamma Duta activities in Malaysia and Indonesia. 
He returned to the island following the passing away of his bhikkhu tutor, to take over the position of Viharadhipathi of Bujjampola Visuddharamaya.
