Profood Propack and Agbiz expo kicks off

Known to be Sri Lanka’s largest food, packaging and agriculture expo, the three-day Profood Propack and Agbiz 2018 trade exhibition opened for the 17th consecutive year yesterday at the BMICH, Colombo.


The exhibition, organised by the Sri Lanka Food Processors Association together with Lanka Exhibition and Conference Services, was inaugurated by 
Sri Lanka Food Processors Association President Sarath Alahakoon along with Export Development Board Chairperson Indira Malwatte, among other distinguished invitees.


The exhibition houses over 350 stalls, which have been allocated for the local and foreign manufacturers, and it is expected that the exhibition will attract over 30,000 visitors.

Moreover, the exhibition features all facets of the food and beverage industry and includes intricate details and the meticulous process that is required for food products in order to make them available to the consumer.


This year’s expo has two separate pavilions for two of the largest global players in the industry; India and China. Over 120 companies from India and China took part at this year’s event. A special delegation of over 50 companies was also brought down by ASSOCHAM (The Associated Chamber of Commerce in India).
This event provides an opportunity for all exhibitors to meet and interact with prospective buyers and also understand the new technologies being used for the sector.
The highly anticipated ‘Cooking Studio’ is also underway, concurrently on all three days. The cooking studio is an opportunity for aspiring housewives to learn from the very best with new recipes and ideas. There will also be special segments for children in the art of home cooking.


Profood Propack and Agbiz 2018 being Sri Lanka’s largest trade fair is a ‘must not miss’ exhibition for all organisations involved in processed food and beverage, packaging and agriculture to showcase their products.


With the inception of Profood Propack in the year 2002, the objective of enhancing Sri Lanka’s Food Processing Industry benefitted tremendously by way of creating a wide array of opportunities in exposing/merchandising the FPI products locally and internationally.
