The Interim Budget 2015 was passed in parliament this evening with a majority of 163 votes cast in favour. 

A total of 164 votes were cast in favour of the interim budget proposals while only one vote had been cast against it by Democratic National Alliance (DNA) MP Ajith Kumara. 


MPs Dinesh Gunawardena, DEW Gunasekara, Tissa Vitarana, Vasudeva Nanayakkara, Wimal Weerawansa, YG Pathmasiri, Geetanjana Gunawardena, Chandrasiri Gajadheera and S Wijewickrama had abstained from voting. 


The second reading vote of the Interim budget was held today. The budget proposals were presented to before the Parliament on January 29 by Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake.
